From Curved Foot to Confident Steps: Abish’s Journey with Indus

Abish’s birth came with an unexpected challenge – a clubfoot. Her parents were worried and anxious about her condition, as they had never encountered anything like this in their family before. They spent the first three months of her life in a private hospital, where doctors tried to treat her with plasters. However, after ten unsuccessful attempts, there was still no improvement, hence they decided to seek a second opinion. That’s when they heard about the Indus Hospital, a glimmer of hope in the darkness of their struggle. Despite the difficulties posed by the pandemic, Abish’s parents took a leap of faith and turned to the hospital for help.

At Indus Hospital, she received not only medical treatment but also emotional support. The doctors at Indus also guided her parents on how to take care of her at home. Having delivered her daughter via c-section, Abish’s mother had not even seen her baby since she was in recovery and was heartbroken when she saw her baby’s foot curved like a banana.

“When I first saw her, I thought her foot would be stuck that way. It was so curved! I was terrified that my baby would never be able to walk and that it would never get better.”

The doctors and parents of other patients in the program helped to ease Abish’s parents’ anxiety and fears, assuring them that their daughter’s condition was treatable. Her father was impressed with the level of care provided at Indus Hospital, which he felt was equal to or even better than bigger private hospitals. Abish’s mother was relieved to see a huge difference in her daughter’s condition after just a few months of treatment at Indus.

Abish’s treatment at Indus Hospital consisted of plasters, small cuts, and shoes, all provided free of cost by Indus hospital. Soon she was able to start walking properly, and her parents were thrilled to see her running around and playing like any other child her age.

As Abish prepares to start school, her parents are filled with hope and gratitude for the incredible care that they received at Indus Hospital.

“Now I tell all my family members to go to Indus instead of any other hospital.”
