After Three Surgeries and Financial Ruin, Tariq Found Hope at Indus
After three surgeries and financial devastation, 45-year-old Tariq Khalil finally found hope at Indus Hospital.
A diabetic, Tariq lost his job during the COVID-19 pandemic. Around the same time, he began experiencing symptoms of typhoid. Following the advice of a local doctor, he started an antibiotic course. While his fever and fatigue subsided, a new problem arose—a pus-filled blister appeared on his chest.
Despite treatment, the infection worsened. Surgery was recommended. Over time, Tariq underwent three major surgeries, including the removal of a rib to prevent the infection from spreading. But the wound persisted. “By this time, I had already spent around 10 lacs,” he recalls. “The IV injections had terrible side effects, and nothing was working. I had sold my car, used up all my savings—I had nothing left. What was I supposed to do now?”
With no options left, Tariq came to Indus Hospital, Korangi, after learning about it online. There, doctors conducted a biopsy and found that his earlier typhoid infection had never fully healed, which was causing the recurring issue. He was prescribed a course of 45 injections—each costing Rs. 10,000—but Indus provided them entirely free of charge.
“I had given up hope, but Indus gave me life again,” Tariq shared. “They performed the biopsy, gave me the injections, and even provided counseling that helped me regain the will to fight.”
Now, as his blister heals, Tariq visits Indus Hospital regularly for his injections. He has started his own real estate business and is slowly rebuilding his life.
