Indus Hospital & Health Network Marks World Family Doctors’ Day with Focus on Compassionate Care in a Digital World

At IHHN, we believe that behind every strong primary care system are family physicians who lead with compassion, innovation, and dedication. Today, we celebrated World Family Doctors’ Day with an inspiring event honoring the heart of the Family Medicine Department at the Indus Hospital & Health Network, Karachi.

Highlights of the Day:

The celebrations began with an engaging #PatientEducation session conducted by Dr. Tania Najeeb and Dr. Rabbia Tariq , focusing on awareness, communication, and the evolving role of family medicine in improving community health outcomes.
Dr. Nida Shamsi, Head of the Family Medicine Department, opened the ceremony with inspiring words to keep the team motivated and appreciated the efforts of everyone in the department.

Dr. Shumaila Zeeshan, Specialist Family Medicine, kept the audience, comprising of all the #IHHN family physicians across Karachi , actively engaged through fun filled energy.

Activities & Recognition:
In accordance with the WONCA theme for World Family Doctors’ Day: “Compassionate Care in a Digital World”, participants were tasked to write slogans and verses for #FamilyDoctors #PrimaryCarePhysicians. Dr. Mahnoor Qaiser’s poetry was declared the winner by a jury comprising of Dr. Aiesha Faisal, Family Medicine Residency Program Director, and Dr. Gulshan Himani, Consultant Family Physician.

We were honored to have Dr. Hiba Ashraf, Director Family Medicine & Primary care, who shared the journey of evolution of Family Medicine at IHHN — from a few physicians to becoming the largest department of family medicine in Pakistan, with faculty, associate faculty, specialists, medical officers, and trainees. She concluded that in #FamilyMedicine, the future has no limits—powered by #vision, strengthened through #resilience, driven by #teamwork, and transformed by bold #leadership.
