Basics of Pediatric Oncology Nursing Course Virtual Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony for the Basics of Pediatric Oncology–Nursing Course was held at the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), on 15th December, 2025 marking the successful completion of this capacity-building initiative under the Cancer Academy. The event brought together faculty members, hospital leadership, and course participants to celebrate their dedication and hard work.

The ceremony opened with a warm welcome delivered by Dr. Hebah Mushtaque, Manager MCM, setting a positive and reflective tone for the event. Distinguished speakers, including Ms. Rashida Merchant, Director Nursing Services, Dr. Ashar Alam, Medical Director IHHN, and Dr. Muhammad Shamvil Ashraf, Executive Medical Director, IHHN, shared their insights and encouragement. They emphasized the growing need for more advanced and comprehensive training programs to support nurses and improve the quality of care for children with cancer, highlighting the importance of sustained educational efforts to strengthen pediatric oncology nursing services across the country. They also acknowledged the collective efforts of the faculty and the enthusiasm of the participants.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the feedback segment, where participants—both in person and joining virtually via Zoom—shared their experiences, reflections, and key takeaways from the course. Their feedback emphasized how the program enhanced their understanding of pediatric oncology and equipped them with practical skills to support patient care more effectively.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Syed Ahmer Hamid, Consultant Pediatric Oncology and a faculty appreciation segment recognizing the contributions of all those involved in designing, teaching, and supporting the course. The ceremony celebrated not only the successful completion of the program but also the shared commitment to advancing pediatric oncology nursing across Pakistan
