Managing Stress: A Wellness Lifestyle Approach
In today’s fast-paced world, stress has emerged as one of the leading factors affecting physical and mental wellbeing. Addressing this growing concern, Mr. Anis Alam, Consultant Nutritionist and Director of Strategic Partnerships – Diagnostic Services at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), delivered an insightful talk on “Managing Stress: A Wellness Lifestyle Approach.”
As part of Health Literacy Month, the session was held during a Seminar and E-Poster Competition titled “Let’s Get Healthy: From Awareness to Action,” organized by the Department of Biochemistry, University of Karachi, in collaboration with the University of Karachi Alumni Association (UKAA), Baltimore, USA, on October 21, 2025, at the University’s Audio Visual Center.
From Awareness to Lifestyle Change
Mr. Alam emphasized that managing stress is not about removing challenges from life but learning how to face them with mindfulness and balance. He shared simple, science-backed strategies to promote wellness, focusing on key elements such as healthy nutrition, regular physical activity, adequate rest, and positive social connections.
“Stress is a part of life — but when managed with awareness, it can become a source of growth rather than harm,” he remarked, inspiring the audience to adopt consistent, sustainable habits for long-term wellbeing.
Mr. Alam also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Dr. Shamim A. Qureshi, Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry, University of Karachi, for organizing such a fruitful and meaningful seminar that promotes health awareness and positive lifestyle choices among students and faculty.
Empowering the Youth Through Health Literacy
Encouraging students to take responsibility for their own health, Mr. Alam highlighted that success and wellbeing go hand in hand. His relatable approach and practical advice created an engaging dialogue, motivating participants to approach wellness as a lifelong commitment rather than a temporary fix.
