Indus Hospital & Health Network Marks Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day with Nationwide Celebrations

The 77th Independence Day of Pakistan was marked with enthusiasm and deep pride across the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) on August 14, 2024. IHHN’s senior leadership, employees, their families, patients, and the broader community came together to honor the nation’s rich legacy. Celebrations were held at IHHN’s various campuses across Pakistan.

At Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus celebrations kicked off with a powerful moment: the singing of the national anthem and the annual flag-hoisting ceremony that filled everyone with pride. The campus’s safety and security team put on a parade that was nothing short of inspiring. Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President of IHHN, spoke to the crowd, sharing his thoughts on why this day matters so much—not just for the country, but for all of us at Indus.

In his address to the gathering, Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President of IHHN, shared his reflections on the importance of this day and the hospital’s role in the nation’s journey.

“The unity we’ve witnessed today is the very foundation upon which Indus was built. It’s this spirit that drives us to expand and sustain the Indus Hospital and Health Network across the nation. By embracing this powerful sense of togetherness, we can uplift our country and ensure that every individual—not just the privileged—has an equal opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life.”

A ceremony was held at Indus Hospital’s Jubilee Town Lahore campus on the occasion of Pakistan Day, marking the 77th Independence Day. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a flag hoisting ceremony and a cake-cutting to celebrate the nation’s birthday. The ceremony was attended by Mr. S.M. Pervez, Chairman, Indus Regional Board, along with board members Mr. Mian Mohammad Ahsan, Mr. Anwar Ahmad Ghani, Dr. Tasman Ibn-e-Rasa, CEO Indus Hospital North, Dr. Muhammad Shafique COO Indus Hospital North and Executive Director CRD North Mr. Ahson Tariq. The enthusiasm and passion of the hospital administration and other staff on this national day were remarkable. Speaking at the event, the distinguished guests highlighted that our forefathers made great sacrifices for independence. This nation is our identity, and we should strive collectively or individually for the success and prosperity of our beloved country. Our safety lies in the survival of the nation.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Hospital in Muzaffargarh marked Pakistan’s Independence Day with similar celebrations including a parade and flag hoisting by the Safety and Security Department guards. The hospital’s senior leadership; Usama Riaz, Admin Manager; Mazhar Bhutta, In-charge CRD; and other staff members attended in large numbers.

A cake was cut to commemorate the occasion. Dr. Irfan Javed, Head of Campus, emphasized in his message about the importance of dedicating oneself to their duties with honesty. Dr. Shiraz Hassan, Head of Faculty, reminded everyone of the sacrifices made for the nation, urging them never to forget. Mr. Zia Ali Jafri, Head of Operations, highlighted that freedom is a blessing, and its gratitude can be best expressed through service to humanity.

But the day wasn’t just about the ceremonies. Earlier on, The Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus held a special event for its youngest warriors—children battling cancer and other serious illnesses. In the hospital’s pediatric play area, these children, surrounded by their families and their caring hospital staff, sang their hearts out with national songs. Some of them even stood up to share their stories and dreams for the future—a future where they see themselves giving back to the country that’s given them so much.

Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro Civil Hospital in Badin marked Independence Day with a series of special events. The day began with a moving rendition of the national anthem, followed by a flag-hoisting ceremony that underscored the profound significance of the occasion. A parade led by ceremonial guards added a sense of dignity and discipline to the celebration.

In a key highlight of the day, Sheikh Naveed Anwar, Director of the Indus Hospital & Health Network Board, laid the foundation stone for a new mosque at the hospital. This mosque will serve as a dedicated space for prayer, fostering spiritual growth and unity among the hospital community. During the ceremony, Sheikh Naveed Anwar led a prayer for the mosque’s successful and timely completion, reflecting a deep commitment to this important project.

The celebration concluded with the distribution of fruits to inpatients across the hospital, spreading joy and comfort on this momentous day. The fruits were personally handed out by Sheikh Naveed Anwar, along with District Health Officer Badin Dr. Zaheeruddin Memon, Head of Campus Dr. Sikandar Ali Memon, and other distinguished guests.

The event was graced by the presence of several key figures, including GM Finance Rehan Kashif, Dr. Mohammad Akhlaq Ahmed Khan, Dr. Seema Zafar, Dr. Waseem, Mohammad Younis Mari, Dr. Mumtaz Ali Chandio, and others. Their participation highlighted the importance of the celebration and reinforced the ongoing support for the community.
