IHHN and Getz Pharma Sign Agreement for Clinical Trial on Ureteral Calculi Treatment
On July 24th, 2024, the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) and Getz Pharma held an official signing ceremony to mark the commencement of an observational study on comparison of Silodosin versus Tamsulosin on passage of acutely obstructing ureteral calculi in medical expulsive therapy. This open-label, comparative, two-arm, randomized, multi-center study aims to advance medical expulsive therapy for patients with a history of ureteral stones over the past four weeks. IHHN is one of 14 hospitals across Pakistan participating in this significant research initiative.
The signing ceremony was attended by key figures, including IHHN’s CEO, Prof. Zafar Zaidi, Dr. Ammad Fahim, Director, ORIC, IHHN; Dr. Abdul Hafeez Qureshi, Consultant and study Co-Investigator; Abdul Qaseem Khan, Manager, ORIC-CTU; and Mahnoor Zafar, Research Associate. Representing Getz Pharma was Dr. Jahanzaib Kamal, Director of Medical Affairs, who emphasized the importance of this partnership in fostering clinical research in Pakistan.
The study not only aims to compare treatment options but also seeks to strengthen the collaboration between healthcare institutions and pharmaceutical companies in the region. This partnership is crucial for promoting and facilitating stakeholders to conduct clinical trials in Pakistan.
