IHHN Conducts Leadership Masterclass on Navigating Net Zero Healthcare at RTEH – Muzaffargarh Campus

The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) successfully conducted its Leadership Masterclass – Navigating Net Zero IHHN at the RTEH Muzaffargarh Campus on 5th August 2026. The initiative reaffirmed IHHN’s commitment to integrating sustainability into healthcare leadership and organizational strategy.

The Masterclass brought together healthcare leaders to explore the impact of climate change on health systems and the role of leadership in advancing sustainable healthcare. The programme was part of IHHN’s ongoing collaboration with the International Hospital Federation (IHF) and the Geneva Sustainability Centre (GSC).

The event began with welcome remarks by Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan, followed by crucial message from Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President & CEO of IHHN, highlighting sustainability as an organizational strategic priority. Participants also received an inspiring message from Ms. Maja van Bruggen of the Geneva Sustainability Centre, emphasizing the global importance of sustainable healthcare. The importance of leadership in embedding sustainability across healthcare systems and driving meaningful organizational change is endorsed by Chief Sustainability Officer, Dr. Lubna Mushtaque.

The Masterclass was facilitated by IHHN’s team of GSC-Certified Facilitators: Mr. Abdullah Khan, Ms. Afifa Batool, Ms. Asma Mughal, Dr. M. Imran Khan, Dr. Lubna Mushtaque, Ms. Mahwish Ejaz, and Mr. Rao Muhammad Abdullah. Throughout the programme, participants explored the evolving healthcare sustainability landscape, the relationship between climate change and health systems, leadership competencies for sustainable transformation, and practical approaches to integrating sustainability into everyday decision-making.

A key highlight was the GSC Carbon Emissions Learning Lab (CELL) simulation, which enabled participants to collaboratively explore strategies for reducing healthcare-related carbon emissions through interactive decision-making exercises.

The sessions placed strong emphasis on translating knowledge into practical action. Participants were equipped with tools and approaches to commit to, integrate, collaborate on, and champion sustainability initiatives within their respective institutions. Interactive group activities encouraged leaders to develop actionable solutions suited to their organizational contexts while strengthening systems thinking, teamwork, and collaborative leadership.

The Masterclass concluded with participants sharing their commitments and immediate action plans, followed by certificate distribution and a group photograph. Through such initiatives, IHHN continues to strengthen leadership for high-quality, equitable, resilient, and environmentally sustainable healthcare.
