CHD Hosts CME on World Malaria Day 2026, Reinforcing Commitment to Malaria Elimination in Pakistan
In observance of World Malaria Day 2026, the Community Health Directorate (CHD) successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session titled “United Against Malaria: Prevention First, Care Always, Elimination Together.”
The session offered a comprehensive review of Pakistan’s malaria landscape, bridging perspectives from national policy to clinical practice and community-level implementation.
Dr. Hiba Ashraf (Director PCP, CHD-IHHN) opened the session and highlighted the critical importance of strong coordination between clinical services and community outreach programs to achieve the goal of zero malaria.
Mr. Noman Manzoor (Senior Manager, GF Malaria Communication, CHD-IHHN) and Dr. Erum Zarif Monis (Program Manager, GF Malaria, CHD-IHHN) presented strategic insights into the Global Fund Malaria Program, focusing on policy implementation, progress, and key milestones achieved through ongoing efforts.
Dr. Afsheen Faraz (Malaria Clinical Lead, PCP, CHD-IHHN) shared important updates on clinical service delivery, highlighting performance indicators and strengthening of frontline healthcare systems.
Dr. Amir Sikandar Kazi (Infectious Disease Consultant) addressed the emerging concern of Artemisinin resistance, emphasizing its significance in shaping the future of malaria control strategies in Pakistan.
The session also featured a documentary screening titled “We Can, Because We Did,” showcasing the dedication and impact of frontline healthcare teams working in malaria prevention and control.
The CME concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen capacity building, enhance clinical excellence, and continue evidence-based efforts toward a malaria-free future.
