Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Inaugurates Indus University Hospital in Karachi

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, today inaugurated the Indus University Hospital, a landmark healthcare project that, upon completion over the next three years, will become Pakistan’s largest free-of-cost hospital with a projected capacity of 1,350 beds.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Cabinet ministers, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Secretary Health Rehan Iqbal Baloch, Board Chairman IHHN Abdul Karim Paracha, board members Khalid Khanani, Salim Razaq Tabani, founding donors Mr. Shahid Soorty from Soorty Foundation,  Shahbaz Malik from Hilton Pharma, Wali Rangoonwala from ZVMG Rangoonwala Trust and other distinguished guests.

During the visit, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, along with senior leadership of Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), toured the newly inaugurated facilities. The inaugurated section includes modern emergency and outpatient services, advanced diagnostic facilities, internationally benchmarked operation theatres, and patient-centered infrastructure developed in line with global healthcare standards. Further construction and service expansion will be completed over the next three years.

Speaking at the occasion, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the Indus University Hospital project represents a major step toward strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality medical services for those who cannot afford treatment. The facility is designed to meet Karachi’s growing healthcare needs and, upon full completion, will offer comprehensive, free-of-cost healthcare services across a wide range of specialties, benefiting millions of patients annually.

CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah also appreciated the collaborative efforts that brought the Indus University Hospital project to fruition, acknowledging the hospital’s potential to significantly improve healthcare access in Karachi and surrounding areas.

Chairman Board of Directors, Mr. Abdul Karim Paracha, expressed deep appreciation for the support of all stakeholders, describing the Indus University Hospital as a reflection of a shared commitment to ensuring equitable, free, and high-quality healthcare for all.

President Indus Hospital, Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, termed the project a transformative development for Pakistan’s healthcare system. He emphasized that, upon completion, the Indus University Hospital would set a new benchmark for accessible, world-class healthcare in the country.

CEO Indus Hospital & Health Network, Professor Syed Zafar Zaidi, said the Indus University Hospital represents the evolution of a vision rooted in compassion, dignity, and patient-centered care. He noted that what began in 2007 as a 150-bed free hospital in Korangi has grown into a nationwide network serving over half a million patients each month, and that the new campus will further strengthen IHHN’s ability to deliver integrated clinical care, education, and research under one roof.
