IHHN Pediatric Oncology Department Showcases Research at SIOP 2025

The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) Pediatric Oncology team participated in the 57th Annual Congress of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP 2025), held from October 20–23, 2025, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The conference brought together global experts to share advancements in childhood cancer care, research, and collaboration.

Representing IHHN, Dr. Syed Ahmer Hamid and Dr. Anushe Mohsin Feroze presented multiple research projects that highlighted the department’s growing contribution to pediatric oncology in Pakistan. Two posters were presented on-site, three abstracts were accepted as e-posters, and three were selected for online publication, demonstrating IHHN’s commitment to research, education, and quality improvement.

Dr. Anushe Mohsin Feroze was also awarded the Global Health Network (GHN) Scholarship, which supported her attendance and the presentation of her research at SIOP 2025.

The on-site poster presentations included “Establishment Of a Virtual Pediatric Oncology Cancer Academy for Capacity Building of Healthcare Professionals in Pakistan” and “Addressing Gaps in Pediatric Oncology Care: Capacity Building Through Infection Control Nursing Training.” These initiatives emphasize IHHN’s focus on developing healthcare professionals and improving infection control practices.

The e-posters presented at the conference covered a range of impactful studies, including “Reducing Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections Rates in Pediatric Oncology in a Low-income Country: A Post-Profile Quality Improvement Initiative,” “Impact of Shared Care Network in Pediatric Oncology: A Multicenter Experience from Pakistan,” and “Communication Practices and Information Exchange for Caregivers of Children with Cancer in Pakistan.”

Additionally, three abstracts were published online: “Building Capacity to RB Care Through the Implementation of the Pediatric Oncology Facility Integrated Local Evaluation (PROFILE RB) Tool: A Low Middle Income Country Experience,” “MRD Positivity in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Distribution Across B-ALL And T-ALL in a Resource-Limited Setting,” and “Bacteriemia in Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Comparative Analysis of Hospital-Acquired and Community Acquired Infections.”

Participation in SIOP 2025 reflects IHHN’s ongoing dedication to improving childhood cancer outcomes through education, research, and international collaboration. The presented studies not only showcase the innovation within IHHN’s Pediatric Oncology Department but also contribute to shaping global best practices in low- and middle-income countries.
