Health on Wheels: Bringing Safe Birth and Hope to Flood-Hit Mothers
Dr Misbah Khalid, a gynecologist and her team at Alipur, a tehsil of Muzaffargarh Health on Wheels, has been serving tirelessly at the same location for the past 15 days. On 23 October, 28-year-old Taj Mai, was supported by Dr Misbah and her team to deliver baby boy safely, at Indus Hospital and Health Network’s (IHHN) Health on Wheels facility- a mobile health facility that operates like a clinic on wheels.
After the delivery, Taj Bibi stayed in IHHN’s care for about eight hours to ensure both mother and baby receive after-birth care, and recover from the delivery.
Sharing her experience with deep gratitude, Taj said, “IHHN’s team and this maternal facility are a miracle for people like us. There is no such facility in our area. They provided me transportation to and from the health facility. I have been visiting this clinic regularly (for ANC visits), and because of IHHN’s care and supervision, I delivered a healthy baby boy today”
After each delivery, Dr. Misbah’s team provides mothers with a baby kit, free medicines, and transportation for the mother and Newborn.
“My whole family and I are extremely grateful that IHHN is here to help us in such a crucial time of floods and to ensure safe births for women like me.”
With your support, “IHHN is playing an instrumental role in providing critical MNCH services, especially when public health services are damaged or overburdened because of the floods, and in most affected areas can no longer meet people’s needs. Donate to our cause and help us reach the unreached.”
