Hope Restored: IHHN Team Ensures Safe Twin Birth for Flood-Affected Mother

A Mobile Health Unit team of Indus Hospital & Health Network successfully delivered twins for a patient from the flood-affected area of Khan Garh Doma. Both newborns and the mother are stable. This marks an important milestone for IHHN’s outreach services and demonstrates high-quality emergency maternal care delivered at the community level.

The patient, Mrs. Zulekha Bibi, presented from Khan Garh Doma with a twin pregnancy at term. She arrived via the Mobile Health Unit with labour pains and regular contractions (3–4 per 10 minutes). The couple had been married for six years; this pregnancy was described as precious.

Both twins were delivered vaginally in cephalic presentation. The placenta was delivered completely with no signs of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). Both babies were vital and stable at birth, and the mother remained stable with no complications. The delivery was managed by the clinical team using standard IHHN obstetric protocols, ensuring preparedness for any emergency and maintaining infection prevention and postnatal monitoring standards.

Delivering twins safely on a Mobile Health Unit is a remarkable achievement for IHHN, showcasing the capability of outreach teams to handle complex deliveries in resource-limited and disaster-affected settings. Both newborns and the mother are now under postnatal care.
