A Night of Hope: Harmony in Helping Hands Fundraises for Indus Hospital & Health Network

On Sunday, October 27, 2024, Avari Towers Hotel buzzed with excitement as ‘Harmony in Helping Hands’ held a remarkable fundraising event dedicated to supporting cancer patients at Indus Hospital. The evening celebrated the power of community, compassion, and the transformative impact of medical care.

Senior leadership including Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi, CEO, IHHN, Salim Razak Tabani, Chairman, Resource Generation Committee, IHHN, Dr. Muhammad Shamvil Ashraf, Executive Director Medical Directorate, Dr. Farah Bari, General Manager, Clinical Operations, IHHN and others attended the event.

The highlight of the night was a surprise appearance by Mohammad Saifullah, a former patient whose journey at Indus Hospital exemplifies hope and resilience. Many years ago, Saifullah arrived at Indus as a child in need of treatment. His heartfelt speech resonated with attendees as he shared his personal story of struggle and triumph. With emotion in his voice, he recounted how the dedicated staff at Indus Hospital gave him not just medical care but a second chance at life. His story is a testament to the importance of support systems in healthcare and the profound impact they can have on young lives.

The evening featured performances by talented students from various schools. Their vibrant energy and passion for music filled the hall, reinforcing the event’s mission of bringing people together for a worthy cause.

Azad Iqbal, grandson of the revered Allama Muhammad Iqbal, also took to the stage, captivating everyone with his powerful performance. As the event neared its conclusion, Salim Razak Tabani delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to the sponsors and organizers for their unwavering support. He reflected on the remarkable journey of Indus Hospital, which started as a humble 150-bed tertiary care facility and has now grown to serve over 1,350 patients. He emphasized the critical need for ongoing donations to sustain the hospital’s operations and continue providing free-of-cost care to the community.

He proudly announced that to date, over 14,000 patients have been treated for cancer and blood diseases at Indus Hospital, showcasing the profound impact the facility has had on countless lives. He also highlighted the expansive reach of Indus Hospital, which now boasts a nationwide network of 10 hospitals, some managed in partnership with the government. This network includes community programs and primary care initiatives, ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all, regardless of their circumstances.

“The growth of Indus Hospital is a testament to what can be achieved when we come together with a shared vision,” he remarked. “But our mission is far from complete. We need your continued support to ensure that every child who walks through our doors receives high-quality care, absolutely free.”

Rashna Gazder, the founder of ‘Harmony in Helping Hands’, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and supporters. She also took a moment to thank Afifa Batool, Head of Marketing and Communications, IHHN, whose dedication and efforts have been instrumental in bringing Harmony in Helping Hands and Indus Hospital together for a second consecutive year. The funds raised during this inspiring event will go directly to Indus Hospital, supporting ongoing initiatives to improve the quality of care for cancer patients.
