Taqrim’s Triumph: A New Lease on Life Through Indus Hospital’s Compassionate Care
Muhammad Taqrim Khan’s life was turned upside down when he found himself having trouble breathing and his kidneys failing. It all started slowly with difficulty in breathing and tiredness, but Taqrim ignored the symptoms until he could no longer bear to do so. It was then that he was rushed to the emergency department at Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus, where he received crucial life-saving medical care.
Once stabilized, Taqrim was informed that his kidneys were badly damaged from prior use of faulty drugs and could no longer adequately filter his blood – without medical intervention, Taqrim could die. Although devastated at first, the doctors at Indus gently counseled Taqrim on the way forward and put him on Peritoneal Dialysis (PD), a new form of dialysis that allowed Taqrim to perform dialysis independently at home. PD also allowed Taqrim to have similar freedom in what to eat and when, which he thought he had lost. The continued care and attention that he received from the staff at Indus Hospital gave him hope that his kidneys may recover in time.
“When I first heard that my kidneys had failed, all I felt was terror. How could I afford the treatment or keep my daily job? When the doctors at Indus assured me that Indus provides all treatment, without charging a rupee, I almost cried from relief.”
Taqrim had heard of Indus Hospital before, having lived in the area and brought his family members there for treatment occasionally. But it wasn’t until he became a patient himself that he truly appreciated the level of care and quality of services provided by the hospital.
“I can’t imagine where I would be now if not for Indus, or if I would even be alive today. I can only speak for myself, but in my experience, the care here is unmatched. Especially the care given by the staff here; their morals, their training, the way they handle patients with patience and compassion, all of it is unlike any other hospital.”
The treatment provided at Indus saved Taqrim’s life. Today he has resumed his old job and life. With the help of the dedicated staff at Indus and his loved ones, Taqrim has successfully overcome one of the most challenging times in his life.
