Abdul Malik’s Story: Cancer Care Close to Home

For Abdul Malik, having a child diagnosed with cancer was already a painful journey. But what made it even harder was the fact that his son’s treatment was only available in Karachi—hundreds of kilometers away from their home in Balochistan. The cost of travel, lodging, and being far from family made an already overwhelming situation even more difficult.

After spending nearly a year in Karachi for his son Meehboob’s treatment, Abdul Malik was emotionally and financially exhausted. That’s when a ray of hope arrived.

In partnership with the Government of Balochistan, Indus Hospital & Health Network opened a dedicated 14-bed Pediatric Oncology Unit at Sheikh Khalifah Bin Zayed Hospital in Quetta. For families like Abdul Malik’s, this meant no more uprooting their lives to access quality care.

“Having this facility near our home is a huge relief,” says Abdul Malik. His son can now receive life-saving cancer treatment just minutes from where they live—surrounded by loved ones and a familiar environment.

His story is a testament to how healthcare access transforms lives—not just for the patient, but for entire families.
