World Malaria Day 2026 – Driving Action for a Malaria-Free Pakistan

The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) marked World Malaria Day 2026 with renewed commitment and nationwide engagement under the global theme, “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.” The day was observed across the network with a strong focus on awareness, prevention, and collective responsibility to eliminate this preventable disease.

These activities were led by the IHHN Malaria Program, the clinical wing of the Primary Care Program (PCP) under the Community Health Directorate (CHD). Staying true to IHHN’s mission of providing accessible and quality healthcare, teams conducted extensive community awareness sessions across all 51 PCP sites, Telehealth Centers, Caravan services, and outreach settings. The sessions emphasized practical and life-saving measures, including the use of insecticide-treated bed nets, maintaining environmental hygiene, and the importance of early testing in case of fever.

Alongside field activities, CHD organized a comprehensive internal awareness session that brought together colleagues from across Pakistan, both in person and online. The session included a detailed review of the malaria program, key field insights, and an in-depth presentation on Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM). It highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and community-level care, followed by an interactive discussion to encourage shared learning and collaboration.

IHHN’s malaria response began in 2017 at The Indus Hospital, Karachi, and has since expanded to 51 PCP sites nationwide. With the integration of malaria screening and treatment into routine primary care services in 2018, the network continues to ensure early detection and free, evidence-based treatment for all confirmed cases.

Through strengthened clinical services, ongoing research, and sustained community engagement, IHHN continues to move forward with a clear vision—working collectively towards a malaria-free Pakistan.
