World Hepatitis Day Seminar Held at IHHN Jubilee Town, Lahore. Strengthening Awareness and Advancing the Fight Against Hepatitis

In observance of World Hepatitis Day 2026, the Department of Hepatogastroenterology & Endoscopy at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Jubilee Town, Lahore, organized a comprehensive awareness seminar on 4 August 2026.

The event brought together healthcare professionals, faculty members, medical students, and hospital staff to reinforce the importance of early detection, prevention, and collective action against viral hepatitis, a group of infections (hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E) that cause liver inflammation and remain a leading cause of liver disease and liver cancer worldwide.

The seminar was led by Dr. Ali Qadeer, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology at IHHN Jubilee Town Campus, who opened the session and welcomed the distinguished participants.

Guest speaker Dr. Hafiz Hammad Ashraf delivered a detailed talk on the causes and effects of hepatitis, helping attendees understand how the disease develops and progresses.

Key speakers Dr. Ammara Naveed and Dr. Ghias-ud-din Tayyab addressed the audience on the growing concern of hepatitis transmission in Pakistan. They discussed how the disease spreads, its underlying causes, and the practical measures needed to control it at both the individual and community levels.

The seminar also saw participation from hospital leadership. Dr. Arshad Taqi, Medical Director, IHHN Jubilee Town Campus, and Dr. Imran Khan, Chief Operating Officer – North, represented the hospital administration and shared their perspectives on the importance of continued awareness efforts and institutional support in the fight against hepatitis.

Through educational initiatives such as this seminar, IHHN continues to contribute to building a healthier Pakistan by advancing awareness, prevention, and early intervention against hepatitis.
