Team Building Event Report: From Diversity to Inclusivity

Fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusivity is vital in today’s healthcare environment. Recognizing this need, the Department of Family Medicine at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Karachi, organized the “From Diversity to Inclusivity” team-building event. This initiative aimed to unite employees from various backgrounds, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and create an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels valued. By celebrating diversity, the event sought to harness it as a powerful tool for innovation and collaboration in patient care.

Event Overview

The event began with an inspiring keynote address by Dr. Hiba Ashraf, Director of the Primary Care Program and former Head of the Family Medicine Department. Dr. Ashraf highlighted the transformative journey from the Filter Clinic to the establishment of Family Medicine, setting a motivational tone for the day’s activities.

Following the keynote, a series of lively performances showcased the diverse talents of the department. A humorous skit, featuring Dr. Shabnam in a compelling role as a patient, brought laughter to the audience. The clinical assistants followed with a captivating skit that energized the crowd. The Nursing Department also delivered a high-energy performance, while a light-hearted news bulletin by Postgraduate Trainees showcased their enthusiasm. Dr. Safdar’s evocative poetry added an emotional element, and Dr. Shumaila’s parody songs brought humor to the challenges faced by the programs and departments.

A video montage, displaying photographs of the Family Medicine Department staff, captured moments from the challenges of floods and COVID-19 to moments of success and emotional farewells. The event also honored team members from various departments, including welfare, housekeeping, and healthcare, with special titles recognizing their unique contributions.

The evening concluded with a heartfelt speech by Dr. Nida Ilyas Shamsi, Head of the Family Medicine Department, who expressed gratitude to all participants for their dedication. A group photograph symbolized the unity and collaboration fostered by this initiative.
