Bridging the Gap: Inauguration of the SAF–Mobile Health Unit in Thar Nabisar

On 19 November 2025, a significant milestone in community healthcare was achieved with the formal inauguration of the Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF)–Mobile Health Unit (MHU) at Thar Nabisar, District Umerkot. Located near the TCF School, this new unit represents a vital expansion of healthcare accessibility for the region through a strategic partnership between the Shahid Afridi Foundation, SECMC/Thar Foundation, and Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN).

The ceremony was attended by a distinguished assembly of guests, including Mr. Ghulam Akber Dars (Assistant Commissioner, Kunri), the Town Chairman of Kunri, the DSP of Kunri, and the General Manager of TPCL. The proceedings began with a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address from Mr. Farhan Ansari, General Manager CSR, who greeted the honorable Chief Guests, Mr. Nawab Taimor Talpur (MPA) and Mr. Amir Iqbal (CEO, SECMC/Thar Foundation). The official inauguration was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Chief Guests, signaling the start of a specialized service designed to reach underserved populations.

During the event, IHHN representatives briefed the Chief Guests on the operational framework of the initiative, highlighting the deployment of two mobile health units in Thar Nabisar and Islamkot to deliver essential primary healthcare services at the community level.

Following the briefing, Mr. Nawab Taimor Talpur and Mr. Amir Iqbal toured the unit to observe the facilities firsthand. Both guests expressed appreciation for the initiative, commending the partnership between SAF, SECMC/Thar Foundation, and IHHN for their commitment to improving healthcare access in remote areas. They acknowledged the mobile health units as a transformative step for the region, with the potential to significantly improve health outcomes by bringing professional medical services directly to the people of Thar. This inauguration stands as a strong example of how collaborative efforts can effectively address the unique healthcare challenges faced by marginalized communities.
