Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital’s Infection Control Department Organizes Awareness Event on Handwashing Day

To raise awareness about the importance of handwashing, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, under the auspicious of the Infection Control Department, organized a vibrant event on Handwashing Day. The event aimed to educate both the general public and health professionals about the significance of proper hand hygiene.

As part of the initiative, the Infection Control Department set up informative stalls where patients and visitors were enlightened about the crucial role handwashing plays in preventing infections. The event also featured a poster competition, recognizing and rewarding departments that excelled in promoting the cause.

Addressing the attendees, Dr. Irfan Javed, Head of Campus, emphasized that Handwashing Day is not merely about celebrating an event but about creating awareness. He highlighted the alarming statistics, stating that the city’s population is approximately nine hundred thousand, while there are only three major hospitals catering to just 0.1% of the total population. He stressed that it is imperative for the remaining 99% of the population to understand the significance of handwashing in maintaining good health. He said that “As medical professionals, it is our duty not only to comprehend the importance of handwashing but also to practice it. We should encourage others and play our part in establishing a healthy society,”

Waqar Ahmad, Head of Operations, emphasized the spiritual aspect of cleanliness, stating that cleanliness is half of faith. He urged everyone to consider cleanliness as a religious, social, and economic obligation, emphasizing the need for a healthy society.

Dr. Rashid Kamal, Head of the Infection Control Department, spoke passionately about the importance of handwashing, urging attendees to follow hygiene protocols diligently. The event saw dedicated efforts from the Infection Control team members Nazia Khaliq, Ms. Aisha Noreen, Shanza Sadiq, Ms.Shamim and Infection Control SMO Dr. Zarmina Malik, who worked tirelessly to make the event a success.

The event was supported by Medinostic Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., with senior officials including Central Sales Head Akhtar Malik, Muhammad Yousaf Lodhi, Area Sales Manager Farhan Arshad, Senior Product Specialist Tabassum Rahman participating actively.
