Pharmacy Students from Jinnah University Visit IHHN for Hands-On Learning Experience
On September 4th and 5th, 2024, 80 undergraduate pharmacy students from Jinnah University for Women (JUW), Karachi, visited the Department of Pharmacy Services at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Korangi Campus. Accompanied by their lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy, the students were warmly received by the Pharmacy Services team.
Dr. Aslam Shah, Chief of Pharmacy Services at IHHN, introduced the students to the organization’s vision and mission, outlining the nationwide scope of its pharmacy services. Dr. Arif Ali Arain, Senior Manager and Head of Pharmacy Services-Karachi, provided insight into the operational intricacies of the department and shared details about ongoing academic activities.
Guided by IHHN’s clinical pharmacists, the students toured key areas, including the In-patient, Emergency, Out-patient, and Clinical Pharmacy departments. They gained valuable knowledge about the vital role pharmacists play in a tertiary healthcare setting.
The visit was highly appreciated by both students and faculty members, with many stating that the experience significantly enhanced their practical understanding of the field. Special thanks were extended to Dr. Qudsia Basri, Lecturer at JUW, for organizing the visit, as well as to the clinical pharmacists and senior pharmacists at IHHN who facilitated the tour and discussions.
