A three-day intensive training workshop titled “From Uncertainty to Self-Belief: Mastering Pediatric Emergencies with Pediatric/Neonatal Resuscitation & SAM Care” was successfully organized at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH), Indus Hospital Muzaffargarh.
The workshop was led by Dr. Saba Laila from Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Karachi, and facilitated by Dr. Saba Aslam, Emergency Life Support Instructor, RTEH. Dr. Sabahat Fatima, Consultant Emergency Medicine, RTEH, played a key role as an organizing member, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the event.
The three-day training aimed to enhance the clinical expertise of healthcare professionals in managing pediatric emergencies, with dedicated modules on pediatric and neonatal resuscitation and Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) care.
During the sessions, Dr. Uneza delivered an insightful lecture on Severe Malnutrition Management in Pediatrics, followed by Dr. Sabahat Fatima’s comprehensive session on the Basics of Ultrasound, which also included hands-on practice on Rapid Ultrasound in Shock (RUSH). Dr. Saba Laila conducted an engaging session on the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) algorithms, guiding participants through their practical application in emergency scenarios.
The workshop combined theoretical learning with simulation-based hands-on training, enabling participants to practice essential emergency procedures such as endotracheal intubation (ETT), intravenous (IV) line insertion, exchange transfusion, phototherapy setup, and blood product administration—significantly improving procedural proficiency and clinical confidence.
The training brought together Postgraduate Residents (PGRs), Medical Officers, Consultants, and Pediatric Specialists from Lahore, Lower Dir, Multan, DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, and Bhong, providing an enriching platform for shared learning and collaboration.
