World Clubfoot Day at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital

Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH), Muzaffargarh recently hosted an awareness walk to observe World Clubfoot Day. The event was aimed at raising public awareness about clubfoot and the effectiveness of its treatment. Participants included hospital doctors, nurses, the “Pehla Qadam” program team, management, and various support staff.

Dr. Irfan Javed, Head of Campus, highlighted the significant role of the “Pehla Qadam” program, noting that children born with congenital clubfoot are being successfully rehabilitated to lead normal lives. Dr. Gauhar Nawaz Khan, Head of the Orthopedic Department, praised the program for not only treating the children but also providing financial support to their families by covering travel expenses during treatment.

Ms. Sadia Ahmad, Deputy Manager of the program, shared that since its inception at the hospital in 2017, about 105 children have been fully treated, with around 546 still receiving treatment.

Following the awareness walk, a football match was held featuring children who have recovered from clubfoot. To celebrate the day, a cake was cut by these successfully treated children, symbolizing their journey to recovery and the bright future ahead.

The event underscored the hospital’s commitment to the “Pehla Qadam” program and its impact on transforming the lives of children with clubfoot.
