Enhancing Ultrasound Skills: ‘FOCUS ON POCUS’ Workshop at Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro Civil Hospital, Badin

Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro Civil Hospital in Badin, managed by the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN), recently conducted a full-day workshop titled “FOCUS ON POCUS” in the Seminar Hall of Block C. The workshop provided comprehensive hands-on training in lung and heart ultrasound techniques, equipping participants with essential skills in using different types of ultrasound probes, including curvilinear and linear probes, as well as practicing high-frequency ultrasound for clear imaging of both large and small body areas. 

Key topics covered during the workshop included:

  • Ultrasound Probe Movements: Techniques for optimal probe usage
  • Ultrasound Controls: Guidance on using Power On/Off, Probe Selection, Application Selection, Depth, and Gain (Overall and Near/Far Field Gain/Time Gain Compensation)

Dr. Komal Baloch and Dr. Sajeeer Bhura served as the lead mentors, guiding participants through detailed practical exercises. The course was directed by Dr. Javeria Chugtai, with facilitation provided by Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Head of the ICU at Badin.

The workshop concluded with remarks from Prof. Dr. Salman Imtiaz, the Medical Director of Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro Civil Hospital Badin, who commended the facilitators for their exceptional guidance and expressed gratitude to the participants for their dedication to enhancing their ultrasound skills.

In appreciation, Prof. Dr. Salman Imtiaz presented certificates to the distinguished guests, including lead mentors Dr. Javeria Chugtai and Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, along with others. As a gesture of cultural recognition, he also presented the traditional Sindhi ajrak to the guests.
