Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) Launches Diabetes Management Program

In a significant move to address diabetes and its associated complications comprehensively, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) has inaugurated a Diabetes Management Program in Muzaffargarh. Under this program, patients will receive diagnosis, treatment, and awareness regarding diabetes and its associated complications under one roof.

The program’s inauguration was conducted by Dr. Tasman A. Ibne Rasa, CEO of Indus Hospital and Health Network (North), accompanied by Dr. Shafiq Haider, Chief Operating Officer of Indus Hospital and Health Network (North). Dr. Tasman A. Ibne Rasa emphasized the potential benefits of this program for patients, aligning with the vision and mission of Indus Hospital.

Dr. Shafiq Haider highlighted that the program aims to provide comprehensive facilities under one roof, addressing the challenge where patients often face difficulties in accessing medications and lack awareness about the complexities of diabetes-related conditions. This lack of awareness can lead to additional health issues such as vision impairment, kidney problems, and heart diseases.

Dr. Irfan Javed, Head of Campus, expressed optimism that the establishment of the Diabetes Clinic would not only benefit residents of Southern Punjab but also individuals from other provinces, providing specialized care in a unique clinical setup.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s initiative aims to provide guidance on diagnosis, treatment, balanced diets, and overall management of diabetes-related conditions, as stated by Dr. Sheraz Hassan, Faculty Chair.

Dr. Nadeem Sohail, in charge of the Diabetes Management Program, emphasized the clinic’s role in providing awareness about medication usage, dietary guidelines, and physical activity to control diabetes effectively. He informed that with approximately 14,000 registered diabetic patients at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, free medications and insulin are provided, a service unparalleled by other hospitals in the region.

The establishment of the Diabetes Management Program at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital underscores the commitment to consolidate all necessary facilities for patient convenience. Moreover, the inclusion of an awareness clinic aims to empower patients with knowledge for better self-management and control of diabetes-related complications.
