MIKD Celebrates Golden Jubilee with Milestone 50th Renal Transplant

The Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases (MIKD) achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully conducting its 50th kidney transplant within a span of two years. 

The 50^th transplant recipient, Touqeer Siddique, a 28-year-old hailing from Muzaffargarh, underwent the life-changing procedure with his brother, M. Tanvir Siddique, selflessly donating his kidney. This compassionate act of sibling love and support exemplified the spirit of hope and healing.

To commemorate this momentous achievement, a special ceremony was held at the health facility to highlight the dedication and expertise of the MIKD team, whose efforts have brought renewed hope to countless lives.

The Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (PHOTA) granted MIKD a license for renal transplant on May 23, 2021, recognizing the institute’s commitment to providing advanced medical care. A team of esteemed experts spearheaded the successful transplant, including Transplant Surgeon Dr. Salman Arshad, Dr. Ali Imran Zaidi, Dr. Tanvir Ul Haq, Dr. Abid, Dr. Asif, Dr. Masood Afzal, Transplant Nephrologist Dr. Nayyar Saleem, Dr. Rashid Asghar, Dr. Khurram, and other skilled professionals.

In addition to the 50 completed transplants, MIKD has already registered another 100 patients who are eagerly awaiting their own life-changing procedures. Notably, the entire transplantation process is provided free of charge to the patients, alleviating the burden of financial constraints and ensuring equal access to life-saving treatments.

The Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases operates under the management of Indus Hospital and Health Network under a Public-Private Partnership with the Punjab government. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Ali Imran Zaidi, the Head of Campus and Senior Consultant, expressed gratitude for the blessings of Allah Almighty, the patronage of Indus Hospital, and the unwavering support of the Government of Punjab. He emphasized that MIKD’s dedicated team of expert doctors, through their relentless hard work, had successfully completed 50 renal transplants, all provided free of charge.

Dr. Zaidi further emphasized that MIKD’s commitment to the well-being of patients extended beyond transplants. From the diagnosis of kidney diseases to comprehensive treatment and even transplantation, the hospital offers entirely free services, benefiting people from all corners of Pakistan.

He concluded by stating that the 50th renal transplant was not merely a destination but an important milestone in MIKD’s ongoing journey to fulfill its vision and mission of delivering exceptional healthcare to those in need.
