IHHN Marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2023
To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), the Physical Rehabilitation Center (PRC) at the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) organized a significant event at the New Hospital Building on the Korangi Campus in Karachi and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital in Muzaffargarh.Â

The event showcased a heartwarming walk led by both current and former patients of the PRC’s physical rehabilitation programs. Dr. Amin Chinoy, the Executive Director of the Physical and Rehabilitation Directorate at IHHN, presided over the gathering. Throughout the event, Dr. Chinoy and fellow participants actively engaged the audience, sharing personal stories from some of the patients.
In his address to the gathering, Dr. Chinoy highlighted the vision and mission of IHHN, expressing gratitude to Allah SWT for the support in advancing their mission. He also provided insights into the ongoing expansion of the Korangi Campus and outlined future plans.
Dr. Amin Chinoy provided details on the diverse services offered by the directorate, encompassing physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation. Established in 2015, the Physical Rehabilitation Center at the Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus, provides orthotic and prosthetic limbs to individuals with disabilities. This initiative has been extended to other hospitals, including Bedian Road General Hospital in Lahore, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital in Muzaffargarh, and District Headquarter Hospital in Badin.
All Physical and Rehabilitation Centers within the IHHN framework offer contemporary rehabilitation services, covering prosthetics, orthotics, physiotherapy, and mobility aids like wheelchairs and crutches. This reflects the organization’s commitment to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
The event also featured a poster competition involving students from the Indus College of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. Winners were announced and congratulated by Dr. Amin Chinoy at the end of the event. The results were as follows: Third prize went to Therapist Tribes, Second prize to Physio the Healers, and First prize to Miracle Warriors.
In attendance at the event were Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President of IHHN; Dr. Ghina Shamsi, Consultant General Surgery at IHHN and Associate Dean at IUHS; Dr. Farrukh Siddique, Principal of Indus College of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation; and Dr. Farhan Vakani from Dow University of Health Sciences.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) in Muzaffargarh marked the International Day of People with Disability with an event organized by the Physical Rehabilitation Center of the hospital and Communication and Resource Development Directorate.
