IHHN Signs MoU with Umeed Parr Foundation to Support Pediatric Cancer Patients
In a meaningful step towards strengthening patient-centered care, the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Umeed Parr Foundation to support children undergoing cancer treatment and their families.
Under this collaboration, pediatric oncology patients receiving treatment at Indus Hospital will be provided safe and supportive accommodation at Umeed Gharr, a dedicated “home-away-from-home” facility operated by Umeed Parr Foundation.
The partnership aims to reduce treatment abandonment, improve adherence to long-term cancer care, and enhance the overall well-being of young patients and their caregivers—particularly those traveling from outside the city.
As part of the agreement, Indus Hospital will identify and refer eligible pediatric patients who require accommodation support due to distance, financial constraints, or prolonged treatment schedules. Umeed Parr Foundation will provide a safe, clean, and child-friendly living environment along with essential support services.
These services include nutritious meals, transportation between the hospital and residence, psychosocial and emotional support, and informal educational assistance for children undergoing treatment. The initiative also ensures a secure and dignified environment for both patients and their primary caregivers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi, Chief Executive Officer, IHHN, emphasized the importance of holistic care, stating that access to safe accommodation plays a vital role in ensuring continuity of treatment for children battling cancer.
Ms. Nabiah Mohammed, CEO & Founder of Umeed Parr Foundation, highlighted that Umeed Gharr is designed to provide not just shelter, but comfort, dignity, and emotional support to families during one of the most challenging times in their lives.
Both organizations will work closely to ensure continuity of care, patient safety, and coordination throughout the treatment journey, while maintaining strict confidentiality and safeguarding standards.
