IHHN’s Meer-E Karwan Tum Ho Youth Conference 2025 Inspires Lahore’s Youth to Step Forward for a Cleaner, Clearer Future

At a time when Lahore’s skyline often blurs into smog, a different kind of clarity filled the halls of Indus Hospital, Jubilee Town, Lahore — the clarity of conviction, compassion, and collective action.

On November 8, 2025, through the Indus Yaqeen Program, IHHN brought its flagship movement “Meer-E Karwan Tum Ho” to Lahore, carrying forward the momentum sparked in Karachi. This year’s theme, “Clear the Air: Youth Rising for Climate Clarity,” encouraged young students from all major educational institutes in Lahore to move beyond awareness.

Opening the day, Mr. Tariq Azam, Executive Director, CRD North, set the tone for the conference saying:

“Safeguarding our planet begins with clarity — of thought, purpose, and action. That clarity begins with you.”

An insightful panel discussion on ‘Responsible Use of AI in the Age of Climate Crisis’ explored how technology and awareness must go hand in hand to drive meaningful impact. Panelists included:

  • Maheen Khoso, Senior Pulmonologist & HOD ICU – IHHN
  • Javaria Qais Joya, Environmentalist, Sustainability & Leadership Coach
  • Ali Kamran Baba, Communication & Outreach Manager at The Initiative
  • Hassaan Bin Saadat, Climate Leader & UNDP Consultant
  • Shazeen Saeed, Climate Activist, Co-founder of SHE Leads Pakistan.

During the discussion, they emphasized responsible use of AI and collective accountability.

Mr. Ahmad Rafay Alam, Environmental Lawyer and Climate Activist, spoke about taking the bull by the horns and taking collective action. In his keynote address, he said:

“Policy without action is just paper. We cannot bring change in isolation — it requires collective and unified actions governed by the authorities.”

Art and storytelling added emotional depth to the day as filmmaker Mr. Sarmad Cheema demonstrated how creative expression can fuel empathy and inspire transformation through his short film.

Students from several prominent educational institutes participated in the debate competition and confidently presented their ideas on “Is Individual Action More Effective than Government Policy in Controlling Air Pollution?”

Renowned TV artists, Ms. Uzma Hassan and Ms. Simi Raheal, as well as actor-director Mr. Sarmad Khoosat graced the occasion.

Ms. Hira Uzair, Quality Manager at APSACS Okara, highlighted the APSACS (Okara & Bahawalnagar) journey with IHHN, celebrating how schools and volunteer students continue to bridge health, environment, and youth engagement.

By the end of the day, the conference had evolved into a movement of ideas — a gathering of students, professionals, and storytellers united by one shared belief: Clean Air is Not a Privilege, but a Basic Human Right!

Closing the event, Dr. Shafique Haider, CEO North – IHHN, reflected on the growing national impact of the initiative:

“Meer-E Karwan Tum Ho has become a national call to action — connecting young voices across Pakistan in purpose and hope. They are not just clearing the air we breathe, but the path to a more conscious, compassionate tomorrow.”

Through the Indus Yaqeen Program, IHHN continues to nurture and empower young changemakers, paving the way towards a healthier, sustainable, and equitable future for all.
