International Nurses Day 2025: Honoring the Heart of Healthcare

The Community Health Directorate (CHD) of Indus Hospital & Health Network commemorated International Nurses Day 2025 with a series of heartfelt celebrations across its nationwide network. This year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for Nurses Strengthens the Economy,” underscored the vital role nurses play in shaping healthier communities and stronger health systems.

Over 200 nurses and midwives from IHHN’s Primary Care Program, Corporate Offices, and Telehealth services came together at more than 50 locations across Pakistan. These simultaneous celebrations symbolized IHHN’s deep-rooted commitment to appreciating, uplifting, and empowering the nursing workforce, the compassionate core of healthcare delivery.

The central event was hosted at the CHD Department in a hybrid format, bringing together nearly 100 participants — with 50 attending in person and 50 more joining virtually from remote locations. The event featured speeches, recognition moments, and engaging activities celebrating the resilience, dedication, and compassion of nurses.

Dr. Hiba Ashraf, Director of the Primary Care Program, and Ms. Sumera Akbar, Nurse Manager, Nursing Services, opened the program with words of appreciation for the nursing staff across all CHD-IHHN sites. They emphasized the importance of empathy, professionalism, and continuous growth in the nursing profession.

Guest speakers included Dr. Rafat Jan, Director, Midwifery Association of Pakistan, and Ms. Rashida Merchant, Director of Nursing Services at IHHN, who highlighted the significance of training, research, and capacity building. They also acknowledged real-world challenges faced by nurses, such as workforce shortages and mental health burdens, while commending their unwavering spirit and commitment.

The event featured several engaging activities, including:

  • Quiz and Poster Competitions, showcasing the creativity and knowledge of nursing teams

  • Patient Success Stories from Primary Care sites, highlighting the impact of nursing care

  • Certificate and Gift Distribution, recognizing participants and winners

  • A Special Recognition Ceremony, honoring outstanding nurses for their service

  • A Cake Cutting Ceremony, symbolizing unity and celebration

The day concluded on a note of gratitude and joy, reaffirming IHHN’s unwavering support for its nursing staff.

At IHHN, every day is Nurses Day a continued celebration of the dedication, compassion, and excellence that nurses bring to the forefront of healthcare.
