IHHN Shines at HAEMCON 2026 with Multiple Scientific Awards and Strong National Representation

Indus Hospital and Health Network’s (IHHN) Clinical Laboratories & Blood Transfusion Services delivered an exceptional representation at the Pakistan Society of Hematology Conference, HAEMCON 2026, held in Peshawar from 1st to 3rd May 2026. Bringing together leading experts and institutions from across the country, the conference served as a key platform for showcasing advancements in hematology and clinical research.

IHHN stood out with one of the highest levels of participation by any institution, with a total of 10 team members contributing across multiple scientific categories, including haematologists, residents, and technologists. This strong presence reflects the institution’s growing role in advancing research and academic excellence at the national level.

Dr. Saba Jamal (Sr. Director, Blood Transfusion Services) represented IHHN as a co-chair and keynote speaker, discussing the implementation and mitigation of risk registers in transfusion safety. In the oral presentation category, Dr. Javeria Aijaz (Section Head, Molecular Pathology), Dr. Shabneez Hussain (Section Head, Blood Transfusion Services), Dr. Fatima Meraj (Consultant, Haematology), Ms. Nida Jawaid (Sr. Biorepository Officer, Biorepository), Dr. Alina Shahid (Resident, Haematology), and Dr. Zeenat Amna Azhar (Resident, Haematology) presented their research work. Notably, all oral presenters were awarded conference bursaries covering accommodation along with limited travel support, recognizing the quality and relevance of their submissions.

In addition, Dr. Hamza Khan (Sr. Registrar, Haematology), Ms. Rabia Majeed (Manager, Blood Transfusion Services), and Ms. Faryal Qamar (Technologist, Molecular Pathology) represented IHHN in the poster presentation category, further contributing to the institution’s diverse research showcase.

The conference featured five competitive scientific sessions, each conferring a Best Presentation Award. In a remarkable achievement, three of these awards were secured by IHHN representatives: Dr. Shabneez Hussain, Dr. Zeenat Amna Azhar, and Ms. Nida Jawaid. This recognition signifies that they were adjudged the best presenters in their respective sessions — an accomplishment that underscores the scientific rigor and impact of the work being conducted at IHHN.

This success reflects not only current achievements but also a forward-looking commitment to continuous improvement.
