Book Launch of I Was Written Off… Celebrates Resilience and Supports Indus Hospital & Health Network

Karachi, Pakistan — The book launch ceremony of I Was Written Off…, authored by Dr. Talat Azad and translated by Mr. Aftab Rizvi, Director, Indus Development Foundation, was held recently at Habitt City, Karachi. The event brought together literary figures, educationists, social activists, and supporters of inclusive causes, while also supporting a meaningful initiative, as proceeds from the book will be donated to Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN).

The book features six powerful real-life stories of women living with disabilities who defied societal stereotypes and personal challenges to emerge as accomplished professionals. Through narratives of courage, resilience, and determination, I Was Written Off… highlights the importance of inclusion, self-belief, and equal opportunity.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Talat Azad shared that the book was written to amplify voices that often remain unheard and to encourage a more inclusive societal outlook. She emphasized that associating the book with Indus Hospital & Health Network reflects a shared commitment to compassion, dignity, and service to humanity.

Mr. Aftab Rizvi, who translated the book, spoke about the responsibility of preserving the essence of these stories while making them accessible to a wider audience. He also highlighted Indus Development Foundation’s continued support for initiatives that create sustainable social impact beyond healthcare.

The launch ceremony also included discussions on inclusive education, women’s empowerment, and social responsibility. Participants appreciated the decision to dedicate the book’s proceeds to Indus Hospital & Health Network, Pakistan’s leading non-profit healthcare system providing free, high-quality healthcare services free of cost to all, without discrimination.

The event concluded with a book signing session and a renewed commitment to promoting inclusion, empathy, and community well-being.
