Community Health Directorate Contributes to National SRH Planning and Shares Flood Response Insights
The Community Health Directorate (CHD) at Indus Hospital & Health Network participated in the Sexual and Reproductive Health Working Group (SRHWG) meeting held in Islamabad on March 25, 2026. The session was chaired by Dr. Nadia Noreen Qureshi from the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (MoNHSRC), and co-chaired by Mohammad Tahir Ghaznavi from the United Nations Population Fund.
The meeting focused on finalizing the 2026 Annual Action Plan, with key priorities including flood contingency integration and heatwave preparedness. As an active member of the SRHWG, CHD presented its extensive 2025 flood response, highlighting field-level challenges and service delivery data to support the development of a unified, evidence-based strategy that connects emergency response with long-term health system strengthening.
During the devastating 2025 monsoon floods, CHD led a large-scale emergency health response across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. In South Punjab, a dedicated “Health Week” campaign introduced Maternal Health on Wheels and specialist outreach clinics, providing free, multi-disciplinary care and essential diagnostics. Across Punjab, Health on Wheels mobile units functioned as fully equipped clinics, offering advanced services including X-rays and ultrasounds to underserved communities.
To address post-flood health risks, rapid-response medical camps were deployed in severely affected districts such as Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, and Buner, delivering critical care for infectious disease outbreaks. At the same time, targeted emergency interventions in KP and Sindh focused on the diagnosis and treatment of malaria, supported by behavior change communication initiatives to reduce transmission in high-risk communities.
Our Impact:
1,001 mobile health camps established, treating over 197,000 patients
Over 2,000 women received Antenatal Care (ANC)
546 women benefited from Postnatal Care (PNC)
Safe deliveries facilitated in emergency settings through Maternal Health on Wheels
By reflecting on past responses and aligning with national frameworks, CHD continues to strengthen the resilience of maternal and reproductive health services—ensuring they remain accessible and effective during future climate-related emergencies.
