Indus Hospital & Health Network, Habib Metro, and DHA Multan Host Opening Ceremony for Health Week for Flood Affected Communities in Jalalpur Pirwala

The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), in partnership with the District Health Authority (DHA) Multan and with the support of Habib Metro, held a formal opening ceremony to launch a comprehensive Flood Relief Health Week in Tehsil Jalalpur Pirwala. The ceremony was held at Khan Bela Shahr, near Bhatti Pump, signaling the start of a large-scale humanitarian mission to provide specialized medical care to flood-affected communities. This initiative represents a strategic collaboration to restore and strengthen health services for populations in southern Punjab that continue to face challenges following the recent monsoon floods.

The opening ceremony was attended by a high-level delegation of health officials and stakeholders who reaffirmed their commitment to public health and disaster resilience. Leading the event were Dr. Sobhan Zia, CEO of DHA Multan; Dr. Taimoor Asif Khan, DHO (Preventive Services); Dr. Mubashir Jalal, DHO Jalalpur Pirwala; Dr. Arshad Abbas, DHO (HRM & MIS); and Dr. Ghulam Yaseen Sabir, DHO (Medical Services). The speakers highlighted the importance of bringing high-quality, free-of-cost clinical services directly to those who lack access to conventional hospital settings.

The Flood Relief Health Week will be executed across three primary Union Councils in the Jalalpur Pirwala tehsil, specifically targeting Basti Khan Bela in UC Khan Bela, Basti Ponta in UC Darab Pour, and Basti Tibbi in UC Tibbi Sehrap. Seven clinics are scheduled under the intervention at each of these three locations, resulting in a total of 21 medical camps. Outreach services were also conducted to ensure comprehensive coverage. Operating daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the clinics have been prepared to manage a high volume of patients, with an expected attendance of 350 to 400 individuals per clinic, ensuring that thousands of residents receive professional medical attention.

The clinical scope of the Health Week is multidisciplinary, offering specialized services that address a wide range of medical needs. Each mobile site will host general OPD with Medical Officers, a specialized ‘Maternal Health on Wheels’ unit staffed by Gynecologists and MNCH experts, and dedicated pediatric services for children. Furthermore, the camps are equipped to provide specialist services from Urologists and Ophthalmologists, bringing a high standard of diagnostic and therapeutic care to the village level. By deploying these ‘clinics on wheels,’ IHHN and its partners are overcoming logistical barriers to provide life-saving interventions for mothers, children, and the elderly.
