Fast Cables – Indus Hospital Golf Tournament 2023-24 | Karachi | Swinging for a Cause: Supporting Emergency Services at IHHN Karachi

Karachi witnessed a gathering of avid golfers, including members from Pakistan’s leading c-class corporates, uniting for the cause at the Fast Cables-Indus Hospital Annual Golf Tournament 2023, hosted at the prestigious Karachi Golf Club.

This year’s tournament focuses on supporting Emergency Services, addressing the increasing need for robust emergency care systems in Pakistan, where acute cardiovascular disease, road injuries, and strokes rank among the top 10 leading causes of death.

The ‘Fast Cables – Indus Hospital Annual Golf Tournament 2023’ unites sport and compassion, aiming to transform millions of lives. Since its inception in 2007, Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) has evolved into Pakistan’s largest private healthcare network, boasting 15 hospitals, 4 regional blood centers, 4 physical rehabilitation centers, 38 primary care sites, and numerous public health initiatives. The Karachi golf community’s swing symbolizes their commitment to aiding the provision of free, quality treatment to patients across IHHN’s nationwide facilities, where over 500,000 patients benefit monthly from integrated primary, secondary, and tertiary care.

To address the growing demand for affordable healthcare and the burden of disease in Pakistan, IHHN has launched a significant expansion project at the Korangi Campus. Converting the 300-bed facility into a state-of-the-art 1350-bed hospital, the project aims to enhance services while maintaining high standards of patient care. Interim Minister for Education, Sindh, Ms. Rana Hussain attended the event as Chief Guest.

During a video address, Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President of IHHN, expressed his sincere appreciation to the Karachi golfing community, stating, “Your enthusiastic involvement and generosity play a crucial role in the success of the event, contributing to our mission of providing quality healthcare, free-of-cost. We are grateful for your commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.”

Syed Mashhood Rizvi, Executive Director, Communications & Resource Development Directorate, and Chief of Staff to the President, introduced the ‘Indus Shakireen’ initiative, encouraging recurring donations to become part of an ongoing cycle of giving thanks to Allah (SWT), saving lives, and receiving blessings every month.

Adding to the allure of the Fast Cables-Indus Hospital Annual Golf Tournament 2023 was the esteemed presence of Mr. Abdul Karim Paracha, Chairman of the Board at IHHN. A passionate golfer himself, Mr. Paracha initiated the innovative idea of fundraising through golf tournaments for IHHN.

Reflecting on the synergy between sport and compassion, Mr. Paracha remarked, ‘Golf has the power to unite individuals for a meaningful cause. As the Fast Cables-Indus Hospital Annual Golf Tournament 2023 concluded, Mr. Salim Razak Tabani, Chairman of the Resource Generation Committee, IHHN, extended his gratitude, recognizing the invaluable support of the golfing community and sponsors.

Closing the event, Mr. Rizvi thanked the golfing community, title sponsor Fast Cables, and other corporate sponsors for making the Fast Cables-IHHN Golf Tournament a resounding success. Established in 2016, the annual IHHN Golf Tournament has become a flagship event, providing the corporate sector and golfing community with a unique opportunity to contribute to a healthier Pakistan. The tournaments are now held annually in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, with 144 golfers participating in the Greensome Stableford format. The event was well attended by IHHN Doctors, Senior Leadership, sponsors, celebrity ambassadors and media.
