Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro Civil Hospital, Badin, Successfully Performs Complex Thyroid Surgery
Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro Civil Hospital, Badin, managed by Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), successfully performed a complex thyroidectomy on a 35-year-old patient with a massive, highly vascular goiter.
The patient presented to the ENT Outpatient Department (OPD) with a large swelling in the neck. Following a detailed clinical evaluation and ultrasound examination, which confirmed a highly vascular goiter, the patient was scheduled for surgery.
The thyroidectomy was successfully performed by Dr. Agha Aftab, ENT Surgeon, with the dedicated support of the Anesthesia and Operation Theatre (OT) teams. Despite the complexity of the case due to the increased blood supply to the thyroid gland, the procedure was completed safely and without complications.
Commenting on the successful surgery, Dr. Agha Aftab said, “Large vascular goiters present significant surgical challenges because of their increased blood supply. Careful preoperative planning and close collaboration between the surgical, anesthesia, and OT teams were key to achieving a successful outcome. Early diagnosis and timely surgical intervention are essential to prevent complications and achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.”
The patient is recovering well following the procedure. This successful outcome reflects the expertise of the multidisciplinary team at Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro Civil Hospital, Badin, and IHHN’s continued commitment to delivering safe, high-quality healthcare across Pakistan.
