IHHN Strengthens Coastal Emergency Response with Ambulance Boat for Baba Island

In a significant step towards improving healthcare access for coastal communities, the Community Health Directorate (CHD) has added a specialized Ambulance Boat to its operations at Baba Island, Karachi.

The boat was formally handed over by Global Radiance Ship Management (GRSM) PTE LTD to the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) maintenance and coordination teams. The handover process included a thorough physical verification of onboard safety and medical equipment, ensuring readiness for emergency response.

Purpose-built to address the unique geographical challenges of island communities, the Ambulance Boat will serve as a critical link between Baba Island and mainland healthcare facilities. Equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) emergency medical equipment and essential safety measures, the vessel is designed to provide timely stabilization and safe patient transfer during emergencies.

This initiative reflects CHD’s continued commitment to ensuring that distance and geography do not limit access to life-saving care. By operationalizing a dedicated maritime ambulance service, IHHN is further strengthening its emergency referral system and expanding healthcare reach to underserved populations in coastal Karachi.
