IHHN Celebrates Successful Completion of Inaugural RESP-ICU Course

The Department of Critical Care Medicine celebrated the successful completion of the inaugural batch of the RESP-ICU (Respiratory Education & Skills Program for the ICU) with a Certificate Distribution Ceremony held on 15 July 2026 at the Seminar Hall, The Indus Hospital.

RESP-ICU is a comprehensive 12-week respiratory education and skills program developed as a collaborative educational initiative between Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Pakistan and the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN). The program was designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge, practical skills, and confidence in the respiratory care of critically ill patients.

The ceremony brought together course participants, faculty, facilitators, and institutional leadership to celebrate the successful completion of the program. The event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by opening remarks and a welcome address. Mr. Nigel Fealy, Course Director, shared his remarks and reflected on the journey and achievements of the inaugural batch. The Chief Guest Dr Abdul Bari Khan then addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of structured education and continued professional development in advancing critical care and respiratory care practices.

The highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of certificates to the successful participants, followed by a group photograph. The event concluded with closing remarks by Chair Medicine Dr Fivzia Farooq, after which participants and guests gathered for refreshments and informal interaction.

The successful completion of the first RESP-ICU batch marks an important milestone in the development of structured respiratory education within critical care. The program represents a significant step towards building institutional capacity in respiratory care education and establishing a sustainable platform for future training initiatives.
