GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital Showcased as a Model for Quality Healthcare in Balochistan

GWADAR: The Special Secretary of Health for Balochistan, Mr. Shay Haq Shahdad, along with Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, visited the GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar, managed by the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), to review healthcare services in the coastal region.

During the visit, the delegation conducted a comprehensive inspection of various departments, evaluating medical facilities, administrative operations, and patient care services.

Dr. Affan Faiq Zada, Head of Campus, briefed the officials on the hospital’s performance, highlighting its advanced medical systems and commitment to delivering free, high-quality healthcare. He shared that the hospital is not only serving Gwadar but also catering to patients from across the Makran Division and nearby border areas.

The hospital currently operates more than 17 clinical departments, supported by a dedicated team of 28 specialist doctors, 48 medical officers, and over 80 nursing staff. Equipped with modern facilities such as CT scan, X-ray, mammography, a fully functional laboratory, blood bank, and 24/7 emergency services, the hospital manages an average daily patient volume of 1,100 to 1,200 individuals, including in-patients receiving comprehensive care.

A key highlight of the hospital is its fully paperless and digitized system, ensuring efficient and transparent service delivery. Advanced procedures, including knee replacement surgeries, are being successfully performed, reducing the need for patients to travel to larger cities. Plans are also underway to introduce cardiology and gastroenterology services in the near future.

Expressing satisfaction with the hospital’s performance, Mr. Shay Haq Shahdad commended the quality of care and patient-friendly environment. He noted that despite the challenges faced by the healthcare sector in Balochistan, the GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital stands as a model institution providing free and quality medical services. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare facilities in underserved regions and supporting such impactful initiatives.

MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman also appreciated the hospital’s services, describing it as a “blessing” for the local population. He highlighted that access to free and quality healthcare within the region has significantly eased the burden on patients who previously had to travel to major cities for treatment.

The Special Secretary concluded by assuring continued support from the Government of Balochistan and the Health Department for the hospital’s growth and expansion, enabling it to further enhance healthcare delivery in the region.

The visit was also attended by District Health Officer Gwadar Dr. Yasir Tahir, former District Health Officer Dr. Abdul Wahid Baloch, and District Manager PPHI Dr. Murshid Dashti.
