Dr. Muhammad Fareeduddin Becomes the First Pakistani Physician to Represent Pakistan at NACFC 2025

We are pleased to share that Dr. Muhammad Fareeduddin, Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist at the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Karachi, made a significant milestone in the global cystic fibrosis (CF) community by attending the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) 2025 held in Seattle, USA. He is the first physician from Pakistan to participate in this prestigious international event, which brings together clinicians, researchers, scientists, and advocacy groups committed to advancing care and improving outcomes for individuals living with cystic fibrosis.

During the conference, Dr. Fareeduddin presented a research poster highlighting CFTR gene mutation data collected from Pakistani patients. This contribution is a noteworthy step forward, as data specific to South Asian and particularly Pakistani populations have historically been underrepresented in global CF research. His work provides valuable insights into the unique genetic patterns and clinical features observed in Pakistan, which may support more accurate diagnosis, tailored treatment strategies, and improved long-term care planning for patients across the country.
