Launch of Dual-Track Appointment Framework at IHHN

Indus Hospital & Health Network has officially launched the Dual-Track Appointment Framework, a progressive initiative developed by the ISRC Subcommittee on Workforce development in collaboration with the Medical Directorate. The framework was formally approved by the Scientific Research Committee (ISRC) and represents a major step forward in fostering multi-disciplinary engagement within the Network.

The new system, to be piloted in 2025–2026, enables faculty and staff to formally combine two disciplines under a structured appointment — such as clinical practice, research, academics, public health, or healthcare support. The primary track (≥60% FTE) will define the employee’s main role, while the secondary track (≤40% FTE) offers opportunities to expand into complementary areas.

During the pilot phase, the framework will focus on integrating research with clinical practice, promoting innovation and collaborative knowledge generation. Two faculty positions under the research track have already been approved and budgeted, with formal announcements to follow soon.

The initiative was officially communicated to the faculty by IHHN leadership on October 9, 2025. The announcement was made by Ms. Mahwish Aijaz Head of HR, IHHN. Dr. Zafar Zaidi CEO, IHHN, Dr. Ashar Alam Medical Director, IHHN, Dr. Muhammad Shamvil Ashraf Executive Director, Medical Services Directorate answered the attendees queries regarding this new initiative. This decision marks a significant milestone in advancing IHHN’s vision of a multi-disciplinary, research-driven culture and creating expanded career pathways for faculty and staff across the Network.
