RTEH Muzaffargarh Observes World Pediatric Surgery Day with Hands-on Workshop on Reconstructive Pediatric Urology

In commemoration of World Pediatric Surgery Day, to highlight the crucial role of pediatric surgeons in children’s healthcare, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) Muzaffargarh organized a significant two-day hands-on workshop on Reconstructive Pediatric Urology, held on April 10–11, 2025. This academic initiative gathered pediatric surgical experts and trainees from RTEH as well as from neighboring cities including DG Khan, Multan, and Bahawalpur.

The workshop featured comprehensive training sessions under the guidance of master trainers Prof. Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi, CEO of Indus Hospital & Health Network and Consultant Pediatric Urologist, Dr. Zehra Kazmi Pediatric surgeon IHHN Karachi, Prof. Dr. Ijaz Hussain, Consultant Pediatric Urologist from Shifa International Hospital Islamabad, Dr. Ahmad Salman, Consultant Pediatric Urologist at MIKD-IHHN Multan, and Dr. Syed Faisal Usman, Head of the Pediatric Surgery Department at RTEH Muzaffargarh, who also served as the Course Coordinator. Alongside them, a distinguished faculty comprising Prof. Dr. Kashif Chishti, Prof. Dr. Iram Uzma Khalid, Prof. Dr. Asif Khawaja, and Prof. Dr. Asif Qureshi enriched the learning experience with their knowledge and expertise.

Prominent attendees included Dr. Asif Qureshi, Principal of DG Khan Medical College, Prof. Dr. Asif Khawaja, and Brig. Javaid, who participated along with other senior colleagues and young consultants, further elevating the academic value and collaborative spirit of the event.

Throughout the two days, the participants were exposed to a range of complex pediatric urological procedures including staged repair of hypospadias, crippled hypospadias, epispadias, and exstrophy bladder. The workshop was specially designed for young and mid-career consultants and senior residents, providing them with a valuable platform for skill enhancement and hands-on learning.

At the conclusion of the event, certificates and shields were distributed among the participants in recognition of their enthusiasm and commitment. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi shared inspiring remarks, emphasizing that sharing knowledge leads to its growth. He remarked that when we pass on our skills to others, we not only serve humanity but also contribute to a noble cause that continues to benefit others — a true form of Sadaqah Jariyah. He further added that this two-day workshop, through a variety of advanced procedures, not only became a remarkable learning opportunity but also a demonstration of compassion and service to humanity.
