Indus Hospital & Health Network Celebrates World Prematurity Day

Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) observed World Prematurity Day on November 17, honoring the resilience of premature babies and highlighting the essential role of care in their survival. Premature births, occurring in one out of every ten babies, pose significant challenges worldwide. Pakistan records the highest neonatal mortality rate globally, with prematurity being the leading cause.

Despite facing a similar burden of premature births, Indus Hospital has achieved an impressive 95% survival rate for premature babies, made possible through exceptional teamwork, state-of-the-art resources, and timely decision-making. This remarkable success stands as a testament to the dedication of IHHN’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

This year, the hospital paid special tribute to its NICU nursing team for their unwavering commitment to saving lives. The event included a cake-cutting ceremony led by the youngest members of the nursing team, symbolizing hope and new beginnings.

Dr. Naila Nizami, Head of Department, spoke about the significance of World Prematurity Day, emphasizing the importance of creating awareness and continuing efforts to improve neonatal care. Nursing Manager Rehana Ladhani and Dr. Muzaffar Saleem were also present, sharing their gratitude for the team’s dedication and celebrating this milestone together.
