As the first employee at Indus Hospital, I designed Pakistan’s first paperless hospital and implemented an integrated HMS that transformed healthcare delivery across 45 hospitals. My commitment to digitalizing healthcare has driven me to set new benchmarks in this field.

Shakeel Akhter designed and implemented the Hospital Management System (HMS), which integrated clinical and non-clinical operations across the Indus Network, transforming healthcare delivery. His leadership also caught the attention of the Pakistan Army, for whom he developed a system that connected CMH hospitals nationwide.

Over the years, Shakeel Akhter has been recognized for his exceptional contributions. He designed and successfully implemented Pakistan’s first paperless hospital at Indus Hospital, Karachi, which earned him a spot on the cover of The CIO Magazine in August 2009. His expertise and leadership in healthcare IT were further acknowledged when he was awarded the ICT Best CIO (Private Sector) of Pakistan in 2009. In 2020, he was recognized as a Master at the World CIO 200 Summit, followed by being honored as a Legend in 2021. He has been published in prestigious platforms like Book of Titans (2020-21) and DG Magazine (2023), solidifying his place as a healthcare leader. Furthermore, he played a key role in achieving ISO-9000 certification for The Kidney Center, Karachi, where he also served as a Certified Lead Auditor.

Driven by his dedication to advancing healthcare technology, Shakeel Akhter continues to lead Indus Hospital’s IT department while playing a key role in digitalizing healthcare across Pakistan.
