Prof. Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi is a healthcare visionary with decades of experience, dedicated to transforming patient care through continuous improvement and innovation.
About Me:
Education & Training
During the 2005 Balakot earthquake, I was deeply moved by the outpouring of support from the people. I reached out to my friends at Indus Hospital in Karachi and said, ‘Insha Allah, this hospital will be launched, and with Allah’s blessing, we will be granted success.’ Today, we are witnessing that very miracle unfold before our eyes.
Dr. Zaidi’s journey began with his graduation from Dow Medical College, Karachi, in 1987. He further trained in Urology in the UK and was awarded the FRCS in 1991. Upon returning to Pakistan in 1997, he joined The Kidney Centre as Assistant Professor of Urology. His dedication to pediatric care led him to establish Pakistan’s first Pediatric Urology Unit, alleviating the suffering of many young patients.
In 2007, Dr. Zaidi co-founded Indus Hospital in Korangi, Karachi, with the vision of providing world-class healthcare free of cost. As the hospital’s first Director of Medical Services, he was instrumental in introducing the Medical Information System, making it Pakistan’s first paperless hospital. His contributions went beyond clinical care; he has played a key role in shaping the future of healthcare management in the country.
Dr. Zaidi’s commitment to education is equally remarkable. In 2017, he was appointed Dean of the Indus University of Health Sciences, where he continues to mentor the next generation of healthcare leaders. Holding fellowships from the European Board of Urology and a Master’s in Health Professional Education from the UK, he is recognized as an expert in his field.
Now serving as the CEO of Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Dr. Zaidi oversees the network’s operations and strategic direction. His leadership has been instrumental in expanding the network’s reach, ensuring the efficient functioning of the organization, and fostering growth across Pakistan. Under his guidance, IHHN has expanded its services to include pre-primary, primary, secondary, and tertiary care facilities, making healthcare more accessible to underserved communities.
