Introduction

To meet the evolving needs of a modern, multidisciplinary workforce, the Indus Hospital & Health Network has launched the Dual-Track Appointment Framework. This framework allows employees to formally engage in two interconnected disciplines—integrating expertise, fostering collaboration, and enhancing institutional impact across healthcare, education, and research.

By aligning individual growth with IHHN’s strategic mission, the initiative promotes innovation, flexibility, and professional advancement, empowering faculty to contribute beyond traditional boundaries and shape the future of healthcare in Pakistan.

Eligibility

To apply for the Clinical–Research dual track, applicants must:

  • Have at least three (3) years of experience in their primary clinical field.
  • Documented impact factor or scholarly recognition.
  • Book chapters, conference presentations, or invited lectures.
  • Evidence of extramural funding (grants, trials, or sponsored research).
  • Additional contributions such as peer reviewing, editorial board roles, or student supervision.

Disciplines

The framework applies across IHHN’s core functional areas:

Dual Track Appointment

A Dual Track Appointment allows an employee to divide their Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) between two distinct domains. A dual-track appointment allocates an individual’s Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) across two distinct domains. Employees may continue on a single track or apply for a dual track, based on eligibility and performance.

Primary Track

Minimum 60% FTE, dedicated to core responsibilities such as clinical, academic, or operational duties.

Secondary Track

Up to 40% FTE, dedicated to research or another complementary discipline to strengthen institutional outcomes.

Employees may continue on a single track or apply for a dual track, based on eligibility and performance.

Exploring Dual-Track Combinations

The dual track will be a combination of any two disciplines. The discipline requiring ≥60% FTE work hour allocation will be considered as the primary track, while the other will be the secondary track, allowing professionals to blend their expertise across multiple domains while maintaining focused contributions in each.

Clinical–Research Dual Track Pilot

(Fiscal Year 2025-2026)
The Clinical–Research Pilot aims to integrate clinical practice with structured research engagement, enabling clinicians to pursue research goals while maintaining their primary healthcare responsibilities. This model strengthens clinical research capacity and generates locally relevant data to inform practice and policy.

Selection Process

Decision Rule:
  • ≥90th Percentile: Strongly recommended
  • 75th–89th Percentile: Recommended
