NED University and Indus Hospital Establish Enduring Partnership at International Mechanical Engineering Conference

The 13th International Mechanical Engineering Conference, hosted by the Institute of Engineers Pakistan and NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, marked a pivotal moment with the formalization of a lasting collaboration between NED University and the Indus Hospital and Health Network. For several years, NED University students have actively volunteered with the Indus Yaqeen program. However, the conference was the official announcement of a comprehensive agreement, solidifying the partnership between the two organizations and fortifying the mutual support they provide.

In his inaugural speech, Engr. Sohail Bashir, Chairman IEP Karachi, formally announced the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indus Hospital. This strategic partnership aims to project the shared vision of both entities, with Indus actively participating in NED events involving faculty members, students, and Alumni Chapters.

The Guest of Honor, Engr. Asim Murtaza Khan, President of NED International Alumni Network Association Pakistan, stressed the significance of the partnership in contributing to society through quality work in education and healthcare. During his address, he proposed expanding the relationship beyond volunteering and fundraising, encouraging close collaboration between NED’s Medical Mechanical departments and IHHN to generate continuous revenue for Indus. NED’s gesture of providing working space to the Indus team is expected to open new avenues for sustainability for the Mega Institute.

In a closing statement, Engr. Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi, VC NEDUET Karachi, declared this partnership as a social and moral responsibility, aiming to bridge the gap and involve all NED students in leading the Indus mission for years to come.

Syed Mashhood Rizvi, Executive Director of the Communications and Resource Department at IHHN, expressed gratitude to NED University and NED International Alumni Network Association Pakistan for their unwavering support. Mr. Rizvi highlighted the importance of ensuring free and quality healthcare access for all and urged NED University’s young participants to rally behind Indus’s cause, emphasizing the youth as a force to reckon with.

Mr. Rizvi spoke about the unprecedented nature of Indus Hospital and Health Network, treating over 500,000 patients every month. Despite the progress, challenges such as a health catastrophe, lifestyle crisis, environmental calamity, and social capitulation persist in Pakistan. He encouraged conference participants to join Indus, offering them an opportunity to be part of the world’s most unique, once-in-a-lifetime industry in Pakistan.
