IHHN Holds Employee Recognition Awards Ceremony

Indus Hospital and Health Network recently hosted an Employee Recognition Awards Ceremony 2024, where both clinical and non-clinical staff were honored for their exceptional performance and outstanding contributions to the organization. This momentous event was a testament to the dedication and hard work of our employees. 

The ceremony, graced by the presence of the Chairman of IHHN’s Board of Directors, Mr. Abdul Karim Paracha, and members of IHHN’s Board of Directors; Mr. Khalid Khanani, Salim Razzak Tabbani, Sheikh Muhammad Pervaiz & Ms. Amber Raza. The event was a heartfelt acknowledgment of the tireless efforts put forth by employees in providing high-quality healthcare services. The recognition extended to both clinical staff as well as non-clinical staff who play integral roles in the day-to-day operations. The awards covered categories acknowledging achievements such as Lifetime Achievement Award, Exceptional Service Award and Employee Recognition Awards Clinical & Non- Clinical.

During the event, Dr. Akhtar Aziz, Professor Saeeda Haider, and Professor Naseem Salahuddin were each granted a Lifetime Achievement Award by IHHN. All three are experts in their fields and have contributed greatly to improving Pakistan’s healthcare industry by leaps and bounds.

Network CEO, Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi expressed gratitude for the continued commitment of the entire staff, emphasizing the pivotal role each employee plays in the IHHN’s success. Each employee recognized during the ceremony had demonstrated exemplary dedication, going above and beyond their duties to ensure the well-being of patients and the smooth functioning of daily operations

The Employee Recognition Awards Ceremony at Indus Hospital and Health Network underscored the institution’s commitment to recognizing and valuing the hard work of its employees. It not only celebrated individual accomplishments but also reinforced the collective spirit that propels the organization towards its mission of providing exceptional healthcare services to the community in order to please Allah Subhanu Wa Ta’ala. This ceremony stands as an effort to recognize and appreciate employees who contribute to a thriving and motivated workforce.

Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients

Professor Dr. Akhtar Aziz graduated from Dow Medical College in 1972. As a leading anesthetist in Pakistan, he is a Fellow of the American College of Anesthetists. After returning to Pakistan in 1986, he had several clinical and academic accomplishments to his name. But it was in service development and his fountain of knowledge of technical equipment, that enabled him to leave an unforgettable mark. After establishing multiple well-reputed private sector hospitals all over Karachi, he became a founding visionary of the Indus Hospital. His contributions were key to the conversion from a single building to a diverse healthcare network including hospitals across three provinces. He served for 14 years as an Executive Director and Head of Department for Anesthesia.

Professor Saeeda Haider graduated from Dow Medical College in 1976 and gained FCPS in Anesthesiology in 1994. She rose through the clinical ranks to become the Chair of Anesthesia at Dow University of Health Sciences, and under her charge, 250 FCPS and MCPS graduates gained professional qualifications. She joined The Indus Hospital and has been at the helm of Anesthesiology for the last 6 years. Her love for teaching, well recognized amongst national and international peers and forums, has enabled another 50 postgraduates to qualify from The Indus Hospital. As a natural consequence of this academic prowess, she served as Dean, Faculty of Anesthesia, CPSP from 2011 to 2014 and amongst multiple other roles, is currently Patron of Pakistan Society of Anesthesia. Additionally, she is an anchor and link in many philanthropic projects. She has been key leader in fund raising to establish multiple ICU, OT and other anesthesia associated projects throughout her career, pioneering the concept of “giving back to the Alma matar.”

Professor Naseem Salahuddin graduated from Fatima Jinnah Medical College in 1967 and gained Board Certification in Internal Medicine from the US in 1977 with Fellowship in Infectious Diseases. Since returning, she has influenced the clinical fraternity in Pakistan immensely as she develops clinical services, acts as CPSP supervisor and mentor’s doctors across the country and beyond. Amongts her list of accomplishments, her internationally acclaimed role in Rabies prevention, introducing the One Health concept to Pakistan through the Rabies Free program is noteworthy. Under her watch, centres for surveillance of dog bites and rabies were set up across the country. She has been on the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Rabies since 2004, as well as the WHO STAG Neglected Tropical Diseases. As a leading researcher, she has been country and site PI for multinational drug trials for multidrug-resistant TB and Covid vaccines. Her dedication to her profession as a physician is exemplary, but her commitment to bettering our society is no less. She founded the Citizens’ Education Development Foundation, from where over 50000 underprivileged children moved into conventional education since 1986. She is a prolific writer of not just clinical science, but her travels, her experiences and her opinions in books and newspaper articles.
