RTEH’s Gynecology Department Raises Awareness on World Iron Deficiency Day
In observance of World Iron Deficiency Day 2023, the Gynecology Department at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) conducted an informative awareness session that drew active participation from faculty, postgraduate Residents, and a significant number of female patients.
During the event, Dr. Samiea Parveen addressed the audience, providing a comprehensive overview of the causes and symptoms of anemia. Dr. Samiea shared valuable insights on preventive measures and strategies to mitigate the impact of this prevalent health condition; equipping the audience with a deeper understanding of anemia and ways to prevent it.
The session also featured addresses by Dr. Samina Gohar, Head of Gynecology Department, and Dr. Afshan Rashid, both of whom spoke about the specific aspects of anemia, particularly relevant to women. Their speeches emphasized the importance of awareness and early intervention in managing anemia.
Also present at the event were Dr. Zahida Liaqat and Dr. Saima Gul, who actively participated in the discussions. The closing remarks highlighted the collaborative efforts towards community health.
An awareness walk was also organized, and pamphlets on anemia were distributed to patients visiting the hospital. As a gesture of support, fruit packets containing iron-rich fruits were distributed among the attendees at the conclusion of the event. The collaborative spirit extended beyond the hospital, with the Martin Dow Marker Ltd. Their senior regional manager Mr. Naveed Qureshi participated in the event along with his team.
